CA offers many programs and activities for community members to enjoy. They also work to encourage the community to embrace its diversity, not only in race but also in age, religion, gender, and economic status. The Columbia Association strives to ensure that all of its programs and services are accessible to persons with disabilities and all Columbia residents, regardless of income.

About CA’s New Town Center Board Rep: Collin Sullivan

Born and raised in Howard County, Collin was a normal kid who loved computers, Harry Potter, and spending time with his bandmates. Some aspects of community service have always been ingrained in his family. Collin’s grandfathers served in World War II, and his paternal grandfather continued working at the National Wildlife Federation. His mom also volunteered at his schools, supporting others in coordinating various events and seminars. In middle school, Collin got deeply involved in student government, which continued in high school and during his undergraduate studies at UMBC.

After college, Collin bought a house in Wyndham and soon became a member of the Wyndham HOA Board. There, he learned so much about caring for the community and collaborating with others. Collin wanted to repay it somehow, feeling a deep connection to Columbia and deeply in debt to this community. In his master’s program, Collin learned about housing policies, particularly in Baltimore, and became deeply aware of the stark contrast of Columbia. So, he applied for a vacancy and then later ran for a seat on the Town Center Village Board!

About Town Center Village Chair: Lynn Foehrkolb

Lynn has served our community for eleven years. One of her major accomplishments over the last two years has been engaging the condo association boards quarterly in identifying issues and working toward solving them. As a team, they have been looking at safety, the establishment of electric vehicle charging stations, and how to handle corporate purchases of residential units for leasing.

Town Center, which had been largely composed of condo associations, has grown exponentially into an apartment community by developing those types of residences at the Mall and in the Merriweather District. Chair Foehrkolb has voiced her opinion on all aspects of development, including in her role as a member of the Howard County Board of Appeals, which hears appeals of administrative decisions regarding land use and certain zoning matters.

As a Weed Warrior, Lynn has worked with CA Staff to establish 2 Adopt-A-Spot areas in Town Center, one in the Banneker neighborhood and one along the Lake Kitt pathway.   This program aids in the control of invasive species in the open spaces we cherish.
