One of the lovely benefits of living in a close-knit community is that everyone comes together to ensure their neighbor’s well-being. Columbia Town Center provides residents access to a variety of programs and services for their health and wellness. Whether you’re single or a family of four, there are resources in and around the neighborhood you can benefit from. Here are some of the essential resources available to Town Center residents.

Family Home Start Program

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced the launch of a new transformative housing assistance program, the Family Home Start Program, with Bridges to Housing Stability. Targeted toward students experiencing homelessness, the Family Home Start Program provides housing assistance. It creates pathways to stable housing for families through a security deposit guarantee, a first month’s rental subsidy, housing search resources, and case management support.

Howard County Food Banks

The Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition’s (HCLHIC) goal is to increase access to and awareness of culturally appropriate, accessible, affordable, and nutritious food to decrease food and nutrition insecurity among Howard County residents.

To better serve the local community and improve ease of accessibility, the Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) will have community service workers stationed at the following locations during the following extended times:

  • Tuesdays, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Wednesdays, 1:00 am – 7:00 pm
  • Thursdays, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Howard County Resource Guide On Aging & Independence

The Office of Aging and Independence’s annual Howard County Resource Guide contains up-to-date information about health and wellness, financial planning, legal services, housing options, and more to help county residents age well and plan for their future. You can find OAI’s Howard County Resource Guide online, with hard copies soon to be available at its 50+ Centers and Howard County Library System branches. 

Senior Call Check Program

Maryland is the first state in the country to start a free, automated telephone service to check in on Maryland’s older residents all across the state. Available for those 65 years and older.

Art Summer Camps

Summer will be here before you know it – get a jump on those summer activities and register today! Camps are open to students entering grades K–7.
