Senior Call Check Program
Maryland is the first state in the country to start a free, automated telephone service to check in on Maryland’s older residents all across the state. Available for those 65 years and older. A telephone call will be made to a participant at a regularly scheduled time every day. These calls will occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., as close as possible to the one-hour time block pre-selected by the participant. Two more automated calls will be made if the participant does not answer their first call. If those calls go unanswered, an alternative person selected by the participant during program enrollment will be called. Learn more about this program here.
Tell HoCo
Report water main breaks, broken street signs, and more on Howard County’s mobile app and website Tell Hoco. Residents can report non-emergency issues which the county will assign to the responsible department. Simply download the TellHoCoApp on your mobile phone or visit the website here.
Online Scam Protection from the FBI
Online scams are extremely prevalent these days. To protect yourself from scams, the FBI says that your best defense is “healthy skepticism.” Scammers want you to react quickly, so, always remember to slow down. If you get a suspicious message, don’t respond immediately – take a beat. To learn more about staying safe, visit the FBI’s webpage here.
