Here are a few community events happening around Columbia
Now that the weather is warming up, it is the perfect time to spend some time in your community. In a close-knit community like Columbia Town Center, there is always something going on to bring the neighborhood together. Participating in community activities provides an underrated sense of connection, solidarity, and belonging. Even small steps, like attending community events, can matter. Here are a few community events happening around Columbia.
Wear Orange for National Gun Violence Awareness Weekend
Join us on June 6 for Wear Orange, an annual day to honor gun violence survivors and build community with those working to end gun violence. Attendees are encouraged to Wear Orange and unite with us at the conclusion of the program as we walk around Lake Kittamaqundi to commemorate the more than 120 lives lost to gun violence every day in the U.S. This event will be held rain or shine from 5 pm to 6 pm at Lake Kittamaqundi Lakefront Stage.
AOK Sunset Garden Party
Join AOK Mentoring & Tutoring in celebrating “All Our Kids” at a beautiful sunset garden party at Robinson Nature Center on June 26th, from 7 to 9 pm.
AOK Mentoring & Tutoring is seeking additional sponsors and guests to reach our goal of raising $30,000! Our critical mission can only be achieved with your help!
As a community, we CAN lift up the children who need us most, with personal attention, guidance, and mentoring, to show them that they are special, worthy, and capable of making their dreams come true!
Enjoy:
– Great Mediterranean food from Umami Catonsville
– Live Jazz Standards
– Gardening activities from Freetown Farm at Community Ecology Institute (CEI)
