Who Can Be a Weed Warrior?

Columbia residents who care about protecting our native plant resources are perfect candidates to be Weed Warriors. Certified volunteer leaders, who complete CA’s training program, may supervise and “lead” groups of volunteers onto the open space to perform designated invasive weed removal tasks as well as ‘adopt’ their own location in CA Open Space through the Adopt-a-Spot program. Weed Warrior training is held twice a year. Anyone interested can email [email protected] to learn about the next training.

Joint Weed Warrior & Tree Savers Class, Fall 2025

Join other Columbia residents to pull weeds and plant trees around the community on Sunday, October 19th, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The first part of the class will be the classroom portion (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM) at the Robinson Nature Center, followed by a lunch break (11:30 AM – 12:00 PM, provided), and then a field portion (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM). This will be a combination of classroom and field activities, so please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and a hat.

Volunteer with Columbia Association

Want to make a positive impact in the community? There’s a place for you at CA!

Whether you’re interested in the environment, history, the arts, or multicultural community events, we welcome you to get involved and volunteer.

Last year, CA had more than 2,000 volunteer hours in the open space alone! CA’s Open Space volunteers must be over the age of 18, but anyone younger is welcome to participate as long as an adult is willing to supervise them. Individuals, organizations, and even corporate groups are welcome to participate.
