We are well into summer, which means the temperatures are rising and the days are getting longer. Summer is also the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the nice weather with your friends and family. Living in Columbia gives you access to many fun activities and events throughout the year. Here are just a few June events going on in Columbia Town Center.
Lakefest Free Weekend
The Columbia Festival returns to the Downtown Columbia Lakefront with its FREE LakeFest Weekend featuring three days of live music, an invitational fine arts and crafts show, kids’ entertainment and crafts, a variety of activities for all ages, and fabulous festival food fare. LakeFest is produced by the Merriweather Arts and Culture Center as part their ongoing collaboration with the Columbia Festival of the Arts. Lakefest hours are:
- Friday, June 20: 5:00 pm – 10:30 pm
- Saturday, June 21: 11:00 am – 10:30 pm
- Sunday, June 22: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm

A Juneteenth Concert
The Denyce Graves Foundation has collaborated with the Howard County Center of African American Culture once again for a Juneteenth celebration. Our DGF Artistic Ambassadors, Symone Harcum & Hakeem Henderson, celebrate African American Composers and Performers on June 22nd, 3 pm at St. John Baptist Church in Columbia, Maryland.
‘Protect the Pollinators’ StoryWalk
Drop in from 9:30 – 11 am to enjoy reading a pollinator-centric picture book while strolling the grounds of Freetown Farm and looking out for pollinators at work! Best for families with kids 10 and under, but all ages are welcome. This StoryWalk is of Protect The Pollinators by Rachael Rose Zoller. Click here to learn more.
Sunset Garden Party
Join AOK Mentoring & Tutoring in celebrating “All Our Kids” at a beautiful sunset garden party at Robinson Nature Center on June 26th from 7 – 9 pm. AOK Mentoring & Tutoring is seeking additional sponsors and guests to reach their goal of raising $30,000! AOK’s critical mission can only be achieved with your help!
As a community, we CAN lift up the children who need us most, with personal attention, guidance, and mentoring, to show them that they are special, worthy, and capable of making their dreams come true!
