Butterfly Wing Walk
Join experts from the Howard County Bird Club for a guided walk around our Mt. Pleasant trails and gardens to learn butterfly identification tips and tricks. Our native plant and pollinator gardens are bursting with flowers that attract butterflies for you to observe.
Details:
- Please remember to dress for the weather and bring your reusable water bottle.
- This is a beginning-level walk for adults and interested children over 8 years old (accompanied by an adult).
- Though dogs on leash are permitted on our grounds, please refrain from bringing your pet on this hike.

Lakefront Live: Pride in July
Celebrate love, community, and togetherness at the inaugural Pride in July. In partnership with Howard County PFLAG, CA invites you to a non-stop dance floor hosted by SADBrunch and CAKE POP!, performances by local queens, and a color parade that will paint the town neon
The Pride in July color parade will start at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront with a burst of neon color. It will then be followed by a walk around Lake Kittamaqundi (approximately 1.4 miles) to show off the pride we have in our community. FREE for attendees of all ages – registration is required. If you plan to walk in the parade, please use the add-on when registering.
Coral Reef Encounter
Going on its 4th year, the Coral Reef Encounter at the Jeffers Hill Pool has become one of Columbia’s most popular events.
At this event:
- Experience the spectacular beauty of a coral reef by snorkeling above an underwater trail of handmade fish and coral.
- Learn to snorkel while enjoying a fun, family-friendly public event.
Ages 6 to adult. This is a FREE event, but pre-registration is required. There is no phone number to call; you must register online at coralreefencounter.org.
Pool Party – Columbia Town Center & Wilde Lake
