Spring is finally in the air around Columbia! The Sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and the days are getting longer. Spring is also the perfect time to spend more time outdoors, having fun with friends and family. Living in Columbia gives you access to many fun activities and events throughout the year. Here are just a few springtime activities and events going on in Columbia Town Center this season.
Discover Downtown Columbia 5K/10K
Join 1,000 other runners in Columbia’s largest foot race, starting and finishing at Color Burst Park on April 27. The Discover Downtown Columbia 5K/10K is appropriate for all levels of runners. Race registration includes a shirt, finisher medal, and beer at the end. Click here to register.
Town Center Community Yard Sale
Join your neighbors at the annual Town Center Community Yard Sale! Town Center’s Yard Sale will be held at Vantage Point Park on Saturday, May 10, 2025, 9 AM-12 PM.
Bring your treasures to share with the community! Each seller gets one 6ft table for a morning of community and treasure-finding.

Books in Bloom
Merriweather District’s signature book festival, Books in Bloom, is back for its ninth year, on May 10th from 10 am to 4 pm. It brings together a community with top storytellers for a day of fun and discovery packed with exciting activities for all ages. This year’s festival will feature Kwame Alexander, the multi-talented creator behind bestselling books, TV shows, and podcasts, alongside award-winning novelists Eric Puchner and Laurie Frankel.
This free outdoor event, presented by the Downtown Columbia Partnership and Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. in Merriweather District’s Color Burst Park, has been a must-attend festival since 2017.
Bike to Work Week
This year’s annual Bike to Work Week celebration will take place Monday, May 12th through Sunday, May 18th, with Howard County’s in-person event the afternoon of Friday, May 16th in Downtown Columbia. Participating riders qualify for free t-shirts, giveaways, and prizes, all while discovering the advantages of a cleaner, healthier commuting option — and your ride doesn’t have to be your commute! Participants who register for the event may ride any time during the week to anywhere and pick up their event shirt at participating bike shops or our pit stop.
Join us at Color Burst Park in Downtown Columbia from 4 to 6:00 PM as we celebrate cycling as a healthy, green, and FUN commute mode! We’ll have shirts, swag, prizes, and more.
